Cycle the Clew Bay Loop

Start in Westport Town,  on your own bike or rent from Clew Bay Bikes and cycle passed Croaghpatrick and into Louisburgh town for a coffee break.  Head on to Roonagh Point and catch O’Grady’s Ferry to Clare Island.  Enjoy the many attractions and entertainment while staying overnight. Take O’Grady’s ferry to Achill Island and finish the loop on the Greenway through Mulranny, Newport and back to Westport Town.  This is the only land and sea cycle route in Ireland.

Walks & Trails

The largest of the Mayo offshore islands, Clare Island has a varied terrain: spectacular cliffs with large numbers of nestling sea birds and a rich ‘inland’ topography of hills and bogs and small pockets of woodland, making it ideal for hill walking.

Sea Activities

Sea Angling

The current Irish record Blue Shark and Porbeagle Shark records were both taken in the ocean off Achill Island. The deep waters around Clare Island offer superb fishing. We have a deep sea angling boat availible for day or half day rentals.

Scuba Diving

Go Explore Hostel operates a dive base for Dive Clubs. We can arrange full or part board packages for your dive group.

Surfing

Surf Mayo offers surfing classes for individuals and families and is Carrowniskey Strand is located 10 minutes from Roonagh Harbour where Surf Mayo is based.
