Club Champions Training Breaks

Does your club / team need that special place to get away from all distractions and focus on key parts of your game plan while providing an excellent opportunity for team building? Well Clare Island is just the location for you whether you are a GAA Club, Soccer Club or any other type of club.

Being an island, the sense of bonding begins the minute your team steps onto the ferry at Roonagh Harbour and begins the crossing of Clew Bay to Clare Island.

The Island

Clare Island is unique of all of Ireland’s Islands in that its topography and varied landscapes provides for every level of training activity from climbing Knockmore Mountain at 1520 feet to running through tracks of undulating hills and loops giving good interval workouts.

The Training Pitch

Clare Island is proud of it football pitch which has a good footing and plenty of space. It is available to teams and clubs for training sessions. The local teams are available for training games if required. Advance notice is necessary.

Team Building Activities

In association with Adventure West we can provide the following activities which provide a great platform for teams to bond with each other and have fun along the way.

  • Orienteering with adventure activities at 4 locations along the route

The Beach

Clare Island GAA has won the All-Island’s football championship more times than any other island. This is due in part to the lack of injury over the course of the event which we believe come from our cool down routine. This involves all players going straight from the pitch to the ice-cold water of the beach to soak those fatigued muscles. The beach is only 200m away from the pitch.
