Clare Island Seafood Festival
The Clare Island Seafood Festival looks to encompass what is native to Clare Islands shore in-keeping with the islands drive towards sustainability. Clare Island has a long tradition of fishing and making a living from the sea. Its people have worked the breakers, shallows and deep water in fare weather and rough for generations. This festival is in celebration of all those seafarers gone before us.
This year’s festival will focus on seafood that is native to the island such as lobster, mussels, crab, Pollock, mackerel, Clare Island farmed salmon, seaweed and winkles. We will have cookery classes by a celebrity chef, a seafood banquet, wine tastings, boat trip to view Clare Island Sea farm in operation, short sea angling competition, kids guided shore walk to discover marine life and much more.
