Clare Island is a hot spot for traditional music, dancing and craic. The island has two pubs, Sailor’s Bar and the Community Centre. Both pubs have an extensive line up of entertainment throughout the year.
Located beside Go Explore Hostel, Sailor’s Bar attracts musicians, singers and dancers from around the country and indeed around the world. Travelling musicians are always welcome to join in on music sessions so bring your guitar.
With stunning evening views across the bay to the mainland and great pints of Guinness, Sailor’s Bar is the place to wind down after a busy day exploring the Island.
Sailor’s Bar hosts an Open Mic night every Thursday evening run by local singer, songwriter and multi -instrumentalist John Hoban. This is an evening of listening where musicians get an opportunity to have their music and song heard in a quiet, intimate setting. The Community Centre Bar hosts Comhlatas evenings every Tuesday in the summer months. These evenings comprise of traditional singing, set dancing, sean-nós dancing, music and recitations. Of course this is also in addition to the full line up of music at weekends.
